GTEC Speaking Reading Aloud Timed Practice CBT
The first part of of the GTEC (Global Test of English Communication) speaking section is a timed reading practice. The GTEC speaking exam is a computer based test (CBT) this means that tablets are used to record the students oral responses.
For the read aloud section students are required to read the materials that they are presented with aloud, no creativity or critical thinking is required. Students are given 30 seconds to look at the passage before being prompted to record themselves reading it. They have 40 seconds to read the whole passage.
With a little preparation (1 lesson) the read aloud section of the GTEC speaking exam should give test takers an opportunity to warm up and feel confident in their English speaking ability before they move on to the next three, more demanding speaking sections.
The other sections in the GTEC speaking test are interacting with others, telling a story and expressing an opinion.
