My Little Pony Make Your Mark I Can Read!

The HarperCollins I Can Read! My Little Pony book series features pony characters from the Hasbro my little pony franchise. These books have been a big hit in my house because my children love the fifth generation of My Little Pony from the Netflix show Make Your Mark. How Accessible is The Language in the My Little Pony Books? The books are rated at level 1 and 2 of the I Can Read! series. I thought that this rating was too low because there are some difficult words to decode and I would have placed them all at level two or three. The names of places are on the longer side like Equestria but the children were already familiar with these from watching the TV show.  The biggest accessibility issue with these books are the "pony puns". Several equine word plays are used. For example, instead of everybody, anybody, nobody and somebody the books use everypony, anypony, nopony, somepony. Rainy season and nursery school in Japan, Everything you need to know

There could be a halt in the muddy play activities as we move into rainy season which is just as well as for me getting the muddy play clothes dry when there is torrential rain outside is always tricky.

On days with light rain my children continue to wear their summer sandals to and from nursery and they also both have child sized umbrellas. These go back into the car during the day and don't stay at the kinder garten but they are handy for dashing between the car and the nursery school. Sometimes when the rain is heavy the children wear wellington boots which keep their feet dry. There are no rules about what type of footwear should be worn. Have a look at what the other children are wearing or go with what your children prefers.

This week at the nursery school there have been several cases of hand foot and mouth and some coughs too. We had a message though the Codomon app advising us to be vigilant of our childrens condition.

If the rain is particularly heavy there may be a severe weather warning. You can keep your children home on these days. My nursery does not close when this is the case but often parents pick their children up early or don't take them in if the warning is in effect in the morning. Primary and middle schools do close when there is a severe weather warning so children with older siblings might not come in. Senior high schools in my area require two severe weather warnings before they close. Often if there is a severe rain warning it is accompanied by a thunderstorm, flood or landslide warning.
